Nerium Sued For Causing Chemical Burns

In a recent lawsuit, Nerium International has been sued for causing chemical burns to the face and neck of Christina Swiatek.  Christina used the Nerium AD product.

Nerium was launched in 2011 by Jeff Olson.

In my opinion, Nerium is a scam. Nerium sells its products to Nerium Brand Partners who recruit multiple, new Brand Partners. They, in turn, purchase Nerium products and recruit yet more Nerium Brand Partners.

Don’t expect to easily find negative reviews online for Nerium. Nerium’s multilevel marketers are trained to systematically bury them. At a training session for Nerium’s multi-level marketers the trainers spell it out: “If people are going on the internet to look up negative stuff on Nerium, our positive stuff is going to get pushed down. We want to dominate the first three pages.” – Source sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com

Here are some highlights from the lawsuit:

Christina claims to have suffered painful, severe and permanent injuries to her face and neck, has incurred medical bills for treatment, is likely to incur further medical bills for treatment of her injuries, has been disfigured, has experienced and will continue to experience pain and mental anguish….

Based on the above, Nerium owed a duty to Christina and to all other similarly situated users of its products to test the product prior to sale, to properly train its sales personnel, to supply proper warnings with its products, and/or supply proper instructions for use with its products.

The complaint claims that Nerium was aware that users of its products had reported adverse and severe reactions to the product in question. Nerium failed to inform its consumers of such prior reported events and failed to notify its sales representatives of same. Nerium further encouraged its sales representatives to continue supplying the product while Nerium suppressed and/or withheld the adverse reaction reports. Nerium additionally trained or encouraged its sales representatives, a/k/a Brand Partners, to attempt to persuade consumers who experienced adverse reactions to remain silent about such reactions. Nerium did all of the above in conscious disregard for the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of its customers, so that Nerium could continue reaping financial benefits from the sale and distribution of the product. Nerium placed profits above safety.

Christina Swiatek requests a trial by jury.

Nerium Sued For Causing Chemical Burns Conclusion

There are some very strong claims made about Nerium and their products in this lawsuit.  You might want to be very careful using Nerium AD.

Here are some of other complaints that I was able to find about Nerium products:

I have used many other skincare lines with no problems. I used Nerium A.D. for three nights and days. I had a burning sensation on day two all day long. I now have a scaly, itchy, red patch that has been present for one week after I stopped using it. The rep told me that was all the toxins coming out of my body. What a load of b.s. Additionally the day cream made my foundation flake off. I can’t believe this product is on the market.

Like many others who have posted here, I’ve had a bad reaction to Nerium. 4-5 days after using my face broke out into a red, painful, inflammed mess with lots of pussy blisters. Its been a month and is still blistered and painful. I’ve used antibiotics and antibiotic cream and nothing has helped. Buyers beware…..

I was given this product to try for five days with the understanding I would take before & after pictures. Skin became red, then on day five and six broke out in pustules which I’m wondering if another reviewer is describing as blisters. I’m guessing it may be an allergic reaction. I’m amazed this product is on the market.

This product first caused my neck to become red and itchy. The red itchy rash then began on my face and forehead so I stopped using the product. My skin then developed blisters. I have not used the product for over a month now and my skin still has blisters and is still red, rashy and itchy. The areas that are the worst are the areas where I concentrated on the most. I didn’t even use as much as they suggested. The Nerium is the only new thing I have used.
