Forever Living Products Scam Reality

Forever Living Products was founded in 1978.  Forever Living is a multi-billion dollar company with a presence in over 150 countries. They manufacture and sell  wellness products based on Aloe Vera.  They sell their products though over 9.5 million Forever Business Owners (FBO) worldwide.

Forever Living Products is like all the other recruiting schemes that are in the business opportunity industry.  To qualify for the majority of commissions you or your friends and family need to spend a fixed amount of money upfront and a fixed amount of money each month. In the case of Forever Living Products, all of this spending is made through required overpriced product purchases.

There is no reason why you should be required to purchase a monthly amount of product to qualify to receive commissions from a health and wellness business opportunity. In my opinion, this is exploiting your sales people.

Here is a comment that gives some good insights into the Forever Living Products business opportunity:

I have recently been targeted by a Forever representative. I am very interested in herbal products so was eager to hear about this. Strangely when I met up with this rep, they spent about two hours telling me about how I could get rich quickly and showed me pictures of successful reps driving flashy cars and owning big houses and not a word about the products. After much prompting from me they eventually spent about 20 minutes talking about the products. The products do appear to be fairly good but I have not really tried them extensively. But I was informed honestly by the rep that there is not much money to be made by selling the products, just by recruiting other sales reps. It is the recruiting of other people that would make me rich (dodgy or what!). I think that this is possibly a Ponzi scheme which is similar to pyramid selling. What makes this so successful and what helps any good scam is that the products themselves may actually be reasonably good. This tends to persuade people that if they work, the way they are sold is probably legal. An easy assumption but a bad one! – Source

Anyone can signup for free to get the Forever Living Products at discount prices.

To become Wholesale Qualified you can purchase the Touch of Forever Combo Pack $414.70 or two Case Credits of products. A Case Credit is worth approximately $140 Wholesale, $170 Novus Customer Pricing and $200 Retail. – Source Forever Living FAQ

To be an active Forever Living Business Owner you must have 4 Personal Case Credits in a month, at least one of which must be personally purchased. You have to be active to qualify for all Bonuses and Incentives, except Personal Bonus, New Distributor Bonus, and New Distributor Prices.

In my opinion, with anyone able to get discount prices for free there will be little or no retail market for Forever Living Products .  With little chance of selling products at retail, there is no real business opportunity other than recruiting people into the business opportunity and profiting off of their personal product purchases.

Compensation Plan

One of the advantages of the Forever Living Products compensation plan is that you do not lose your rank and team when you do not meet their personal monthly requirements. This advantage does not change the nature of this scam. You still lose commissions when you do not meet their personal monthly requirements.

They want you to insist that everyone start out with a Touch of Forever Combo Pack $414.70.

You need to purchase or retail 2 Case Credits of products to become Wholesale Qualified.

A Case Credit is equal to $140 Wholesale. A touch of Forever Combo Pack allows you to qualify right away.

To be an active Forever Living Business Owner you must have 4 Personal Case Credits in a month, at least one of which must be personally purchased. You have to be active to qualify for all Bonuses and Incentives, except Personal Bonus, New Distributor Bonus, and New Distributor Prices.

The Forever Living Products compensation plan pays out commissions to unlimited levels of your downline.

Excessive levels in a downline is another sign participants are expected to sell primarily to their downline, rather than to the general public. This makes it an exploitative money transfer scheme. – Source The problem with 5 or more levels of compensation.

The goal of Forever Living recruiting scheme is for you to spend $414.70 on a Touch of Forever Combo Pack to start.  Then purchase at least 1-4 Case Credits $140-$560 wholesale each month and get others to do the same.  Endless recruitment of  Forever Business Owners is the name of the game.

Income Disclosure

No income disclosure is provided to people joining this business opportunity.  No retail sales figures are provided to people joining this business opportunity.

Never join a business opportunity that can’t verify how much money people are making on average.

They spend a lot of time at their rallies showing commission checks that people receive.

Forever Living Products Scam Rally Video

In my opinion, without an income disclosure it is deceptive to show commission checks on a stage to new recruits at their rallies. They should not be making any income claims. With 9.5 million Forever Business Owners and no income disclosure there is no way of knowing how many are losing money participating in this recruiting scheme.

The vast majority of scams like Forever Living Products have 60-90% failure rates in the first year and only 1 percent or less of representatives turn a profit after expenses. – Source

Return Policy

Wholesale Qualified FBO can return defective product within 30 days of the date of purchase. Novus Customers can return product for any reason within 30 days from the date of purchase.

During the respective stated periods of warranty and guarantee, FLP will provide a new replacement of the same such product in exchange for the defective product or for one that has been returned to a distributor by a Retail Customer for lack of satisfaction. Such replacement shall be subject to validation of presented proof of timely purchase. In addition, for replacements of products to a distributor for product returns by Retail Customers, a proof of sale to the Retail Customer and written proof of cancellation along with a signed receipt for return of funds as well as the return of product or empty containers will be required. Such purchase must have been by the party returning the product. Repetitive returns of product by the same parties will be rejected.

FLP shall buy back any unsold, salable FLP product that has been purchased within the previous twelve (12) months from any FLP distributor who terminates their FLP Distributorship. Such buy back will be accomplished by the terminating distributor first giving written notice to FLP of their intent to terminate their FLP Distributorship and forgo all rights and privileges relating thereto. The terminating distributor must complete a Product Return form and return all product for which a refund is being claimed, along with proof of purchase to FLP. When product is returned by a terminating distributor, all bonuses and case credits received by the terminating distributor’s upline for the products returned, will be deducted from the upline. If the case credits were used for any level move-ups of the distributor or upline, those move-ups will be re-calculated after deducting the case credits to determine if the move-ups should remain in force. After verification of the facts, the distributor will receive a refund check from FLP in the amount equal to the distributor’s cost of the products being returned, less the bonuses personally received by them from their original purchase and the cost of handling, freight and any other appropriate setoffs. After recouping any costs or damages resulting from the terminated distributor’s adverse conduct, if any, FLP will remove the distributor from the FLP Marketing Plan, and their entire downline organization will move up directly under the terminating distributor’s Sponsor in their current generation sequence. The “Buy Back Rule” is designed to impose upon the Sponsor and the Company the obligation to ensure that the sponsored distributor is buying products wisely. Distributors may not buy more product than they can use for their business and personal needs. The Sponsor should make every effort to provide recommended guidelines to Distributors so that they purchase only as much product as is required to meet immediate sales needs, and that additional products be purchased only after 75% of that product’s inventory has been sold, consumed or otherwise utilized. Products previously certified as having been sold, consumed or utilized shall not be subject to repurchase under the “Buy Back Rule.” – Source

You will not receive a refund for 75% of the products you have purchased in the first year because they certify them as being sold or consumed.  If you are unsuccessful in your first year, you will lose almost all your money invested in this business opportunity.

Forever Living Products Scam Conclusion

In my opinion, the Forever Living Products business opportunity is a recruiting scam.  They encourage their new representatives to purchase over $400 in products to start.  Then they require you to purchase products monthly to maintain your active status to receive the majority of commissions. No income disclosure is provided. People who are looking to join this business opportunity are kept in the dark about some very important information in deciding if a business opportunity is worth pursing: retail sales figures and average representative income.  Avoid the Forever Living Products business opportunity.
