In my opinion, this business opportunity is a product-based pyramid scheme that has been running for years in the United States. This is not some great new plan to make money. They get you to pay an upfront fee to join the business opportunity. This fee is disguised as a minimum product purchase. Then you pay a monthly fee to remain eligible for bonuses. This fee is also disguised as a minimum product purchase.
Most people will not be able to sell enough product or recruit enough people to make a profit.
Cost
You have to purchase at least 40 PCV of products to start. 40 PCV is approximately $44-$99.
They also offer large starter packs which cost from $299.95- $1,679.95.
To remain qualified to receive bonuses you have to purchase at least 40 PCV each month. This amount increases as you rise in rank in the compensation plan.
The starter packs are a way to load up a new IBO with a lot of product to begin with.

These symptoms are indicative of allergic reactions, which require immediate medical attention. It is important to determine if you may be allergic to Ganoderma before taking it for the first time to avoid severe allergic reactions later.
Severe Ganoderma side effects include liver problems and breathing problems which should be given immediate medical attention. Use of powdered Ganoderma has been associated with toxic effects on the liver. – Source WebMD
Compensation Plan

The first of two qualifications to earn commissions is that you order a TLC product that creates at least 40 PCV. PCV is volume that is credited to you personally when a product is purchased by you.
A TLC rep that personally sponsors three people as IBOs in the first month will earn $60.00 in commissions from those IBO’s first purchases with 40 volume.
The requirement for earning binary commissions is that you must have personally sponsored two IBOs that are currently active with 40 PCV, one placed in your left leg and one in your right leg. Your binary pay is calculated from your weaker leg.
Example: As a Director with 1,000 GCV on the weak leg and 2,500 GCV on the strong leg, a $120 commission will be paid that week. The strong leg volume will be “flushed” of 1,000 volume (equal to the weak leg payout), leaving 1,500 GCV to be carried over or “banked” for the strong leg’s GCV the following week.
If you are not active with a 40 PCV order and binary qualified, you will lose your commissions from your downline.
As your group commissionable volume (GCV) on your lesser team (weak leg) grows you will move up the ranks listed below and your pay percentage rate will increase as well. The Personal Commissionable Volume (PCV) requirement also increases as you move up the ranks.
Ranks | Qualifications | Earnings Eligibility | Binary Pay | Match Bonus | Lifestyle Bonus |
Affiliate | Active with 40 PV | Fast Start and Retail Bonus only | None | None | NO |
Associate | Active with 40PV & Binary Qualified | Fast Start, Retail Bonus, Binary Pay | 10% | None | NO |
Director | Active With 80 PV, Binary Qualified and 1,000 PLV | Fast Start, Retail Bonus, Binary Pay, Match Pay | 12% | 50% 1st Level 10% 2nd Level | NO |
Executive Director | Active With 80 PV, Binary Qualified and 5,000 PLV | Fast Start, Retail Bonus, Binary Pay, Match Pay | 14% | 50% 1st Level 20% 2nd Level | NO |
Regional Director | Active With 120 PV, Binary Qualified, at least one personally sponsored Active Executive Director in a previous commission week and 10,000 PLV | Fast Start, Retail Bonus, Binary Pay, Match Pay | 17% | 50% 1st Level 30% 2nd Level | NO |
National Director | Active With 120 PV, Binary Qualified, at least 1 personally Sponsored Active Regional Director in a previous commission week and 20,000 PLV. | Fast Start, Retail Bonus, Binary Pay, Match Pay, and Lifestyle Bonus | 20% | 50% 1st Level 40% 2nd Level | YES |
Global Director | Active With 120 PV, Binary Qualified, 2 active Executive Directors* (1 on each leg), at least 1 personally sponsored active National Director in a previous commission week and 50,000 PLV. | Fast Start, Retail Bonus, Binary Pay, Match Pay, and Lifestyle Bonus | 20% | 50% 1st Level 50% 2nd Level | YES |
Ambassador** | Active With 120 PV, Binary Qualified, 4 active Executive Directors* (2 on each leg), at least 1 personally sponsored Global Director in a previous commission week and 100,000 PLV. | Fast Start, Retail Bonus, Binary Pay, Match Pay, and Lifestyle Bonus | 22% | 50% 1st Level 50% 2nd Level | YES |
Executive Ambassador | Active With 120 PV, Binary Qualified, 8 active Executive Directors* (4 on each leg), at least 1 personally sponsored Ambassador in a previous commission week and 250,000 PLV. | Fast Start, Retail Bonus, Binary Pay, Match Pay, and Lifestyle Bonus | 25% | 50% 1st Level 50% 2nd Level | YES |
Recruitment is required to rise through the ranks of this compensation plan. You have to purchase more personally as you rise through the ranks of this compensation plan. In my opinion, this is a clear product-based pyramid scheme. Retail sales are secondary to recruitment and personal purchases by IBOs.
A TLC rep who has not placed a 40 PCV order in the last 180 days can be removed from the TLC genealogy and will forfeit their position and all personally sponsored reps in the company genealogy.
Income Disclosure
Becoming an Independent Business Owner with TLC is NOT a guarantee of income. Average income from the TLC Compensation Plan has not been established.
This company has been in business since 1999 and they are unable to share how much their IBOs are making. Also, they provide no information on how much people are making retailing the products. Never join a business opportunity that can’t verify how much money people are making on average.
Return Policy
There is a strict 30-day return policy. If a purchase is refunded for any reason, it is understood that the purchaser was not satisfied with the product or service and we may permanently refuse any future sales to that purchaser.
An Associate who wishes to return any unopened or used product should contact Customer service at 888-873-1898. To insure accurate processing of returned orders, an Associate or Consumer should never return a shipment before speaking with Customer Service. Once you have contacted Customer Service they will give you return instructions and the address to return the product. You will then return the product in question to the Distribution Facility. The return order must include the following. 1) A note requesting the refund and signed by the Consumer. 2) A copy of the original invoice that came with the product in question. 3) The full or empty product containers. 4) Any merchandise being returned to our Distribution Center must be sent prepaid. Associates and Consumers are encouraged to use a traceable means of transport, as (TLC) is not responsible for items lost in transport. If an Associate or Consumer paid for the product with a credit card, a credit will be issued within 48 hours on receipt of return for 100% of the purchase price, less shipping, to the credit card originally used for payment. If an Associate or Consumer paid for the product with a bank draft or check and then returns the product, there will be a minimum of 7 days before a refund check will be issued unless the Associate or Consumer provides a copy of the paid bank draft or check from his or her financial institution. A refund check will be issued for 100% of the purchase price, less shipping. Any advancement in the (TLC’s) Compensation Plan, bonuses or awards achieved as a result of these purchases by the Associate’s upline will be reversed, and the amount(s) deducted from the upline Associate’s commission check. If an order has been returned by the carrier, due to insufficient address, undeliverable, etc., (TLC) will contact the Associate or Consumer either by phone or email within 24 hours, to advise them of the returned order. If Associate or Consumer would like the package shipped to a deliverable address they would be required to pay the shipping charge again. If (TLC) does not receive a response from the Associate before the end of a current pay period, the order will be cancelled, and the money refunded back to the Associate or Consumer. It is understood that in the event an Associate returns any personal product purchase for a refund, that they will also be giving up their Associate status and in turn give up any potential earnings from referral sales in the future.
Total Life Changes Scam Conclusion
In my opinion, Total Life Changes is a product-based pyramid scheme that has been running for years in the United States. They use incredible claims about their products to get people to join their business opportunity and personally purchase the products to qualify for bonuses. People who are looking to join this business opportunity are kept in the dark about some very important information in deciding if a business opportunity is worth pursing. They do not provide information on how much their representatives are making on average. They do not provide information on retail sales. Avoid the Total Life Changes business opportunity.

Hi Ethan, do you get paid for warning us about scams? I think you’re doing a good job so that innocent people will not fall prey and spend their retirement pennies to buy a truckload of soap to store in their basement…then grovel for people to buy it Lol. Are you compensated for your time and effort?

I am not paid by anyone to warn people. I make a small amount of money from my ads to pay for my hosting, equipment, and time.

hi Ethan , how about DOLLARCELL where you are requested to copy and referal link and share and you are paid as people click on it to visit the site, are people paid eventually and is it a scam? thanks.

Thank you for your request. I will add them to my list to look into.

I am with TLC. I buy a lot of products and sell them retail, so if I’m buying the products, the company can only track what I have purchased. It can’t track what I have retailed outside of my website. I have clients that prefere to purchase from me than going and ordering from the website. I’m sure many product based companies are the same way. I also know the products work and when people aren’t succesful on the products, it’s because they aren’t using the product correctly or consistently and with a lifestyle change. I tried other opportunities and TLC is the only company that I have had success with. The binary compensation plan would be more successful if people were strategic with placement and filled in the matrix as opposed to going straight down the right and straight down the left. Everyone has their opinion, and its easy to be negative when you are on the outside looking in, and your mind is already set up that network marking is a pyramid scheme. I know more average people that have become millionaires by being a part of a network marketing company. Smh

Great review Ethan. l don’t see any value in these over priced products. No company can sell a product for its fair or real value, pay the rep 50% and still make a profit. Both the commission and profit are make ups.TLC’s goal is to make you realize that it is screwing you up if you do not sell their tea to the next sucker. Convert the ‘sucker’ into a seller (competitor) and you both become TLC die hard customers. Just thinking aloud.

No competitor everyone gets a peace of the cake only way you can even get in is if refererd to even find out details

I got asked to join this by someone called Jay Lange, however i was unsure. Looks like i was right all along, another pyramid scam. I wont get involved in any of these scams, too many people are perennial online ponzi pimps it seems!

TLC has started flooding into the UK FB Groups that I run, in much the same way as YouNique.
As soon as I saw it is a binary, I understood the money was not being paid out due to the imbalance between left and right legs.
The company is getting very rich whilst the IBOs are becoming poor.

Hi Ethan,
Thanks so much, you’re awesome! I had a friend trying to convince me to join TLC but something didn’t feel right about the whole thing, and I refuse to pay money every month for some products I may never use or even receive. Best regards 🙂

Hey do you know anything about Stormy Wellington? I know she’s been in different businesses back to back…From what i see she’s helping 1,000 families earn 6 figures. She hops from different businesses. What really got me is that she made 1 million in 8 months, while the ones under her only made 250,000 and under (which is still good money). This chick got a good talk game!

I have not had a chance to look into Stormy. I will add her to my list to look into.

I’m NOT with TLC, so don’t mistake my intent here. I’m wondering how this stacks up to other network marketing plans? Doesn’t every network marketing company require an initial purchase and a continued monthly minimum purchase (or sales) to stay active? Tupperware, Party Lite, Avon, etc. — they are all well respected companies and they require the same things. Running any business takes an initial and continued investment. The tough part about network marketing is the sales — not everyone can sell or market effectively. Some companies don’t train you on that and focus on recruitment only — yes. That part is wrong. The #2 problem is that reps start up and only hit up their friends, never effectively selling the product outside their circle. The circle eventually runs dry and they quit. Or they just post constantly on their Facebook walls spamming their friends all day thinking it’s going to make them millionaires. UGH. BUT…If the products are good (again I’m not with or a customer of TLC so I don’t know their products) and you know how to effectively market or sell you can do well. I run a graphic design business from my home and I still have to invest in my business continuously — websites, hosting, advertising, stock image accounts, etc. My initial investment to launch my design business was over 5 grand. I’m shelling out about $500/month minimum to maintain all my business assets. I also remember when I did Tupperware back when I was 18 or 19. I had to buy a $300 package of products to get started and maintain personal purchases, sales and a certain number of parties to stay active. Don’t get me started on the Party Lite investment and requirements. I hated doing parties and I knew that wasn’t for me. However all these years later I’m back in network marketing and finding that the right product for the individual selling it makes it easier to market — and the initial/continued investment is actually less than my own design business. I’ve seen many different comp plans — but every last one of them requires initial and continued investment. Nothing I read here seems out of the ordinary (other than some products I’m not sure I’d touch with a ten-foot pole). Just trying to understand is all 🙂

The vast majority of MLM companies today are running product-based pyramid schemes. There is little or no retail sales to customers outside of the business opportunity. The products they are offering are not competitive in the marketplace. The purchasing of products to qualify for commissions in a MLM is not the same as a business person purchasing equipment to run their business. In most cases the products purchased to qualify for commissions in a MLM are individually used and are not actually required to run the business. The products in a MLM are just the cover for making payments into the pyramid scheme. One of the primary things that separates a legitimate direct selling business from a MLM scam is the amount of products that are sold to customers outside of the business opportunity.
loading...
In the network marketing business I’m doing I sell more retail than sign ups and that’s fine by me. I still have a big team of reps but I make sure anyone who signs up understands the business and knows the products before joining. That’s important. The products we buy with them are mostly used to provide samples to build retail sales. Yes, I use the products myself but because I like them. I’d buy them whether I was doing it as a business or not — I was actually a customer for about 8 months before I even considered it. If I left the company as a rep, I’d still be using the products. That’s the reason I started with them. Yes there are a ton of schemers out there, but to call every MLM or network marketing company a scam isn’t right. (To be fair, you didn’t say that here, but your other post about the 10 biggest scams calls out MLM in general). Sales is never an easy job and it takes a right fit. If the product is quality and the comp plan is actually doable, then dig deeper into the company and the leadership involved. There are so many companies that push you to join fast and blindly — I hate that, despise it. It’s 100% wrong to do that. That’s not what we do. I won’t name my company because I’m not here to promote my business. There’s a time and place for that — but I wouldn’t throw all MLMs under the bus.
loading...
Not all MLMs are scams but most are. Most MLM companies I have reviewed hide the numbers for their sales to retail customers. This helps protect them from being shutdown. In my post Top 10 Work At Home Business Opportunity Scams, I talk about 10 business opportunity scams. I talk about Secret Shopper scams and not all Secret Shopper offers are scams. I talk about ATM scams and not all ATM offers are scams. I talk about MLM scams and not all MLMs are scams. Thank you for not promoting your business opportunity here.

I would throw 99.9% of them under a 60 TON U.S. Army M1A1 Abrams Tank.

My friend Gloria has not seen over $350 of her TLC products that she ordered 5 months ago. After numerous support tickets, attempts for refunds, TLC has not sent her the refund. She is now left with angry customers & her reputation on the line. She is not getting any peace & is left in tears. She is a single mother & does not deserve this time of treatment from anyone, let alone a million dollar company. No one can ever defend them to me again. The president was even sent a message but nothing was done. If you can not deliver a product, the honorable thing to do, is give her a refund. TLC has several customers that has yet to receive their products but yet has taken people money. I do not understand how a company can get away taking folks money & not receive their products . If they do receive them, it several months. Is that so hard to do, when you earning millions per month? I So sad. So Sad. May God have mercy on them.

Many of these new schemes that pop up are people who have been there before selling other concepts I know of many recipients who are in as many as 4 of these pyramid or MLM businesses sharing mailing lists etc some other health products are Xyngular very successful and good pay out for those who got in first Organogold is supposed to be a coffee that’s actually is healthy for you with your starting kit at $500- and they all work off monthly sales where you have to buy product each month and you end up with a room full I still have bottles of a health and nutrition drink in my fridge that I purchased more than 12 months ago of which I intended to run it as a business but found it difficult to afford monthly products each month thus blowing out the budget.
